Dairy Stockjudging

The Dairy Stockjudging took place at Langhill Farm on Wednesday the 21st of Feb. The judge for the evening was Colin Laird from Blythbridge with the cows provided by the SAC. There was a good turnout for the evening with 37, including John Elcock & Allan Langly who kindly drove some students out in the college mini bus.

After the four classes had been judged, the winners were announced:

1st - Kyle Campbell

2nd - Robert Wallace

3rd - Ann Laird

Kyle was awarded the Jamie Galloway Memorial Trophy for winning, with an impressive score of 191 out of 200.

Dublin!

From the 9th till the 12th of Feb the agrics went on tour....destination Dublin!!! The trip started with a drive to Stranraer and a meal with Jamie Galloways family.

The girls didnt bring suitcases as they just wore their t-shirts all weekend!!

After a drunken bus journey, the bags were dumped and the agrics were let loose around the pubs in Dublin! I doubt we will ever find out where everyone went but a good night was definately had by all!

Saturday...the day of the ball! Dolled up nice and early, i don't reckon a rugby match has ever had such a classy audience! Then it was time to head to the ball. The venue was a bit more fancy than we're used to but we managed to bring the night down to our usual standard! Food fights, a dip in the pool and the boys will certainly be remembered...but maybe not by their faces!!

After very little sleep it was time to return to the pub where to the amazement of the Dublin agrics, we continued on our drunken quest. The night ended in Copper Faced Jacks but I doubt many will remember this!!

Woken bright and early on the monday morning by a cheerful Clare we started our long journey home. There was slightly less singing on the bus this time, with most people prefering to keep their mouths tightly shut!

Look.....everyone made it home!!!

Agric Burns Supper!

Wednesday the 31st was the night of the annual burns supper in the Minto Hotel. The evening started off with David Wyllies address to the haggis. The meal went pretty smoothly with just the odd piece of haggis flying overhead!!

Following the meal came the most anticipated part of the evening......the address to the lads & lassies! Mike took to the floor first with the traditional toast to the agric lassies causing more than one red face. No one knew what was going to come out of his mouth next! Luckily Clare laughed off the slagging she received and got up to do the reply. On a lighter note she compared the agric boys to the Mr. Men, finding some striking similarities!!

Before the usual night in Cavendish the girls showed the boys exactly how it was done in the boat race!
