Dairy Stockjudging

The Dairy Stockjudging took place at Langhill Farm on Wednesday the 21st of Feb. The judge for the evening was Colin Laird from Blythbridge with the cows provided by the SAC. There was a good turnout for the evening with 37, including John Elcock & Allan Langly who kindly drove some students out in the college mini bus.

After the four classes had been judged, the winners were announced:

1st - Kyle Campbell

2nd - Robert Wallace

3rd - Ann Laird

Kyle was awarded the Jamie Galloway Memorial Trophy for winning, with an impressive score of 191 out of 200.

Dublin!

From the 9th till the 12th of Feb the agrics went on tour....destination Dublin!!! The trip started with a drive to Stranraer and a meal with Jamie Galloways family.

The girls didnt bring suitcases as they just wore their t-shirts all weekend!!

After a drunken bus journey, the bags were dumped and the agrics were let loose around the pubs in Dublin! I doubt we will ever find out where everyone went but a good night was definately had by all!

Saturday...the day of the ball! Dolled up nice and early, i don't reckon a rugby match has ever had such a classy audience! Then it was time to head to the ball. The venue was a bit more fancy than we're used to but we managed to bring the night down to our usual standard! Food fights, a dip in the pool and the boys will certainly be remembered...but maybe not by their faces!!

After very little sleep it was time to return to the pub where to the amazement of the Dublin agrics, we continued on our drunken quest. The night ended in Copper Faced Jacks but I doubt many will remember this!!

Woken bright and early on the monday morning by a cheerful Clare we started our long journey home. There was slightly less singing on the bus this time, with most people prefering to keep their mouths tightly shut!

Look.....everyone made it home!!!

Agric Burns Supper!

Wednesday the 31st was the night of the annual burns supper in the Minto Hotel. The evening started off with David Wyllies address to the haggis. The meal went pretty smoothly with just the odd piece of haggis flying overhead!!

Following the meal came the most anticipated part of the evening......the address to the lads & lassies! Mike took to the floor first with the traditional toast to the agric lassies causing more than one red face. No one knew what was going to come out of his mouth next! Luckily Clare laughed off the slagging she received and got up to do the reply. On a lighter note she compared the agric boys to the Mr. Men, finding some striking similarities!!

Before the usual night in Cavendish the girls showed the boys exactly how it was done in the boat race!

Agric Christmas Ceilidh!!

The day started with a little bit of sport! Auchencruive Agrics came up on mass for a spot of rugby and hockey!! Firstly the Edinburgh captain, Mr Mike Brown himself, insisted on a group shot!

It was of course a win to Edinburgh but Cruive did try their hardest!!

After this there was a hockey game and Edinburgh managed to win this too with a 4 - 1 victory!!

By this point though a lot of the spectators had vanished.....maybe something to do with the Peffermill bar opening at 3pm!??

The kilts and dresses were then put on and the evening fun began! The ceilidh held at Tynecastles Gorgie Suite for the 2nd year running was a very successful night and i think everyone would agree! Many of the Cruive guys stayed to join in all the fun and frolics which involved some very drunken dancing and an interesting attempt at a raffle!!?

The society presidents themselves, Scott and David!
(I promised Scott he would appear on the website!!)

It was an amazing night and even the lecturers seemed to appreciate the drunken banter! and for those who need reminding we did end up in Cav, again, that night!!

Bad Taste Night!!

It was that time of the year again, to dig deep into those wardrobes and we have to say that you really did do it in style!! It was very well attended and the committee's threats must have worked because there was hardly a normal piece of clothing to be seen! Led on valiently by the president Mr Wyllie himself, who unable to get his hands on a borat thong in time, still managed to look the prize idiot in a more conventional swimsuit!!

shame its female clothing eh wyllie??

Despite the committee having a few games up their sleeves people were just generally happy being ridiculous and so the only successful game of the night was the toilet paper game! 6 teams participated (due to limited toilet roll supply!!) and the most mummified went to Peccles and partner!

Peccles and his mummy seemed to be quite excited
about a free bottle of champagne for their efforts!!

At the prizegiving a bottle of champagne was also awarded to the best (worst) bad taste outfit. After much controversy this was given to Paul for his pedophilic priest!! After he got the champagne he wasn't too fussed about the baby....which later turned into a football!!

A special mention has to go to Grant Maxwell, who received the ASBO for making no effort whatsoever!!!
Bottle of fake tan run out has it Grant?!?

All self conciousness was gone by the time everyone made it to Cav.....no one noticed the strange looks we were getting! We reckon everyone was jealous!!

Photos!!

A bit of a different website this year! (previous one having been removed due to indecent content!!) All of the agric events happen below but to view a full version of our photos from the nights check out the links on the left hand side! Write comments.....but keep them decent!!!?

Love the new and improved website editors!

Bowling!!

A tamer event for those not so fond of the traditional wednesday night. But where were you all??! Those that did turn up seemed to have a good time!!

Some of you who were to hungover from the night before to bowl, decided to practise their dance moves for later on in Cav!!

Although the start of the night was quiet and well behaved, you wouldnt really expect the hard core agrics to miss out on the opportunity of Cav on a wednesday night!!!

Beerin and Teerin!

The next event in the agric social calendar and possibly the most famous....Beerin and Teerin!!! An orienteering course around 10 pubs in Edinburgh! But obviously its not quite as simple as that, with 3 members of the team cable tied together, an egg to be kept intact and several items to be found along the way! Funnily enough everyone knew a source of strawberry condoms however some guys were more willing to give them up than others!!

As well as all of this lets not forget the most important part...downing the drinks! Some of the committee members were harsher than others though, downing red wine in one pub to wee Bobby's concoction of baileys, lime and a raw egg!!?

They seemed to manage fine though!!!

All seven teams made it back, however its debatable whether or not they were in one piece!
After all calculations were made the winning team was Sven's Tartan Army!!

They definately suffered for their victory!!!

A special mention of the night goes out to Paddy and the ginger first year!! Split up from teams of 5 they battled out just the 2 of them! Some committee members thought they should be punished for losing their team with a few extra drinks and so arrived back at Siglo completely seshed and a lot later than everyone else!!! Well played you guys!

Freshers Reception

THE FRESHERS RECEPTION!! The eagerly awaited first wednesday out of the new term for all agrics, old and new! A chance for the old to catch up and the new to be initiated into the flock!! Poor things!! This initiation started with drinks in KB house at 5pm in order to lull them in to a false sense of security. The turnout was a bit disappointing...had some of them all ready heard what was in store?!

6pm: The multi-story car park and the unlucky few! The look of fear as the 2nd years appeared in cars to take them to their as yet unknown destination!!?

Being such kind and friendly guys the 2nd years decided that a drink would be needed in order to keep them going on the long walk home!

Its not surprising someone was sick...eh Fermer??!

After this it was thought that they were still too sober and so other complications were added, in true agric style!!

The first years were then given a nice tour of Edinburgh. Shame they were blindfolded.......

and you guys really didn't have to make them walk back!! (especially fermer....Fife isn't really somewhere you would go for a walk?!?)

The Freshers Reception - Part 2!

For everyone else the freshers reception started in Siglo at 8pm! It was a relief that the first years also slowly arrived back, unfortunately some were there even before we were.....Fife obviously wasn't far enough away!!

It was then down to the committee to keep everyone entertained for the rest of the evening with a variety of drinking games. It would seem though that the drinking had already gone too far and the games then turned into a bit of a shambles!!

The famous boat race, something that happens maybe more often than we would like but as they say...practise makes perfect!!!

Its a well known fact that agrics will eat anything for a bet you can't, we didn't think they would go this far though, just for a game!! Anchovies?? Really??!

But it came down to the ex agrics to show the rest how it was done.......

I think the rest of the night got worse after this and as usual it was Cavendish that had to deal with us!! Although memories are a bit hazy, a good night was undoubtedly had by all!!
